The black sapote, is a species of persimmon. Common names include chocolate pudding fruit, black soapapple and zapote prieto. This tropical fruit-bearing tree is native to Mexico, Central America, and Colombia.
The fruit when ripe, resembles chocolate pudding and tastes like mashed atiesa with honey, caramel, dates and mineral tones.
