Sabah Snake Grass (Clinacanthus nutans) is a tropical shrub, often called belalai gajah in Malaysia, used in traditional medicine to treat skin rashes, insect bites, diabetes, and inflammation. It gained popularity for alleged anti-cancer properties, particularly in treating snake bites and viral infections. The leaves are commonly brewed into tea.
Research suggests anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-viral (herpes), and cytotoxic properties (meaning it may kill certain cancer cells in laboratory studies).
Usage: Fresh leaves are often boiled, crushed, or juiced to consume, often mixed with other beverages (like sugarcane juice) to mask the grassy taste.
