a coastal understory tree, means nabubuhay sya on seashores and under other trees, salt and sand tolerant. This tree also grows well in acid clay soils and can tolerate both drought and high rainfall.
The fruit has white, juicy, edible pulp that is mostly citric with mild sweetness, similar to purple mangosteen but slightly more tart and with a hint of banana. The fruit have a colorful transition - from green, to yellow, to orange, and finally pinkish-red to dark red when fully ripe.
Its roots and leaves have been used medicinally for centuries to relieve itching.
